Tsuki Kaminaki

Tsuki Kaminaki is the Ultimate Thespian, a title and situation taking inspiration from the Danganronpa game series. The color red is used as a unifying element which takes homage from the red curtain surrounding the stage.

Tsuki is just one of 16 students I have created which would be forced to participate in a brand new killing game. I imagine her to never be seen without a theatre mask on, with her adorning various masks with a wide range of expressions to represent her mood or to coincide with the tone at which she is speaking.

Tsuki takes herself rather seriously and sees herself as being better than most other people around her; this is due to the fame she has reached through her acting proficiency. She likely sees her own life as being much more valuable than those of the other players in the game, meaning she would have no problem with murdering her classmates in order to escape, and then using her expert acting skills to lie her way to graduation.

Danganronpa is a video game which originated in Japan but has since surged in popularity in the U.S. as well as other countries across the world.

The main premise of the game is that you play as a member of a group of 16 students, each of whom are incredibly proficient in some talent of area of expertise. These students are trapped within the confines of an academy setting, and only those who murder one of their classmates without being caught is allowed to “graduate” and leave the academy.

The red of the piece not only highlights the saturated red of the stage curtain, but also the bloodthirsty demeanor and self-importance of Tsuki herself. Although she may claim the masks help her maintain composure and assure she is always in the perfect state to embody a role, they also serve as a hint at her deceptive nature and her mysterious cunning.
